Hands & Feet Sydney

Project Vision

Hands and Feet Sydney exists to help the homeless, help those struggling to feed their families and to help schools provide adequate nutrition for kids who come to school without food.  The aim is to provide help in the short term to allow people an opportunity to get back on their feet.  As opportunity allows, there will be programs developed to aid and help people rebuild their lives.

Project Objectives

Hands and Feet Sydney work in three distinct areas

1.    City Care
Each Friday night a team of volunteers travel to Sydney CBD and surrounding suburbs to deliver food packages and clothing for those living on the street.  They provide help to those in desperate need and build relationship with them so that we can encourage them to rebuild their lives.

2.    Community Care
There are a growing number of families who do not have enough money to buy food for their families on a weekly basis.  Hands and Feet provide food hampers to families to help them get through the week.  Families can visit our distribution centres to collect the food they require.

In addition of providing crisis care, Hands and Feet will develop real programs that are effective in helping people become contributors to society.  Other existing help programs include

a.  Job Care:  We’ll help you find a job.

b.  Budget Care:  We’ll help you learn to budget your money

c.  Addiction Care:  We’ll help you kick an addiction.

Projected Outcome

It is great to be able to help people in a crisis situation and to allow them to get through another week by providing some basic needs for them.  Jesus was often seen to do this, providing for a person’s immediate needs.  Jesus however also empowered people bringing freedom to them allowing them to grow and develop and become contributors towards others.  Hands and Feet in partnership with local churches will continue to help those in crisis but will also develop effective and dignified programs to empower people, helping them develop and to become contributors to society.

Hands and Feet operate out of a warehouse in Kings Park.  The warehouse becomes the conduit for the collection and distribution of food and clothing to those in need.  Produce, clothes and other essential goods are donated to Hands and Feet by local stores and passionate supporting organisations. (Check out some of our supporting organisations below) To meet our needs however, we do purchase essential foods and goods to ensure we provide a balanced and nutritious food packs to those in need.  In time we hope to reduce these costs and source all our products from generous organisations.  If you can help us or know someone who could help us supply these needs, please contact Brad.

Titilia heads up the work, coordinating, negotiating and managing the work.  Titilia sources produce, clothes and manages the work with the support of passionate volunteers.  We are always looking for passionate volunteers to help us sort, store, pack and distribute our emergency help.  As we develop programs that empower those we work with, we will be looking for more volunteers and churches to help us role out these services.  Want to help? Contact Brad.

We thank those who give generously to the work allowing us to continue to provide emergency care and help to those in need in our community.  Our aim is to ensure that the funds collected are used wisely and efficiently to help those in need and to empower people.
